About Us

Opeongo High School has been proudly serving the students and families of the Eganville, Cobden, and Douglas area since 1968.

As a small high school we offer a close knit and welcoming environment in which to learn, make lifelong connections, and prepare to make the world a better place upon graduation. Despite our size, Opeongo is fortunate to be able to offer many of the programs and services seen in larger centres. Our technical education shops are among the largest and best equipped in the Board, we have a well equipped Music room and thriving Arts department and are well regarded for our academic rigour, innovation, and passion in the sciences, maths, languages, and social sciences as well.

The grounds of Opeongo HS are also unique and breathtaking, with wide yard space and views of peaceful farmland, as well as extensive forested property for outdoor and environmental education. The natural surroundings nurture both mind and wellbeing.

Opeongo is also widely known for extracurricular programming including excellence in school sports such as basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, girls rugby, golf, track and cross country, alpine skiing and more. Outside of sports, we also are proud of our growing list of clubs such as the WWW (Wildcat Women' s Welding), Improv, GSA, and Students’ Council! There is something for everyone and we encourage all students to find their happy place with some of our extracurriculars and help make the most of their secondary experience.

Our staff is a just right mix of the long revered seasoned professionals who have already taught parents of many of our current students, and new energetic talent who have joined Team OHS more recently. We know that if you come for a visit, or have already made the decision to register, that you will be in good hands with the education and support staff that make this place such a special place to learn and grow.

Come see us soon and see for yourself!
