Aboriginal Education

The Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) is a leader in offering Native Studies courses in our secondary schools. In 2011-2012, 38 course sections were offered to students, the highest number of Native Studies course offerings per capita in Ontario.

Schools in the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) continue to incorporate strategies to realize the goals outlined in The Ontario First Nation, M├ętis and Inuit Education Policy Framework (FNMI Framework). The RCDSB Ad Hoc Director's Advisory Committee on Aboriginal Education meets each semester to review commitments and make recommendations for future initiatives.

The RCDSB's four Aboriginal Education projects include Community Outreach; Closing the Gap; Aboriginal Perspectives: The Teacher's Toolkit Training; and developing an Aboriginal Education Resource List. Visit the RCDSB Aboriginal Education page for details.
